This striking Mangano Calcite with Marcasite comes from the historic Taxco Mining District of Guerrero, Mexico. In natural light, soft calcite crystals are contrasted by the darker, metallic sparkle of marcasite, giving the specimen plenty of texture and visual interest.

But under UV light, it completely transforms. The Mangano Calcite has a very strong fluorescent response, illuminating the crystal formation and revealing an entirely different side of the piece. It’s one of those specimens that’s just as much fun to explore as it is to display.
